Wooden Signs
Natural wooden signs crafted using a variety of timbers. The Sign Maker handcrafts wooden signage from English Oak, Sapele, Iroko, Douglas Fir, Cherry, Chestnut Red Cedar, Opepe, Balau and Accoya (amongst a few others). Made to order wooden signs and memorials sustainably crafted by an award-winning team and a senior carpenter.
Good selection of brackets and posts available too.
Wooden Signs in Various Timbers
At The Sign Maker workshops in Devon, we have a barn stocked with a wide range of timber in various types and thicknesses, where we craft wooden sign blanks. From small house signs to large business signage, we can create them all.
Oak is our most popular choice for wooden signs, and we believe it to be the most beautiful timber. However, Sapele is also a favorite for its rich, deep red hue, and Iroko is valued for its high oil content, which makes it low-maintenance.
In addition, we offer Chestnut, Cherry, Red Grandis & Opepe,Red Cedar and Douglas Fir - the last two are both excellent choices for outdoor signs which needs little care. Red Cedar is known for its natural resistance to decay and beautiful grain, while Douglas Fir provides strength and durability for larger signs.
Wooden Signs On Posts
Our skilled carpenters craft each of the wooden sign on posts with precision, tailoring every detail to your specifications. From the choice of timber to the fixing method and dimensions, you have complete control over the design to ensure the finished wooden sign suits your needs.
Start by selecting the timber. Oak and Iroko are our most popular choices for woodens signs, valued for their durability and timeless appeal. However, Douglas Fir and Red Cedar are also excellent options, offering unique characteristics. Choose the size of the sign and the height of the post. Also you can choose beween front fixed or mortised in.
